According to the tracker, my new exhaust will be here tomorrow. I haven't seen any good sound clips of this particular model exhaust on an 8th gen VFR, so I wanted to make a sound clip to post on YouTube but before I do, I wanted to poll the crazies, umm, members, yeah, members, as to what you like in an exhaust sound clip so that, hopefully, I don't make another addition to the thousands of crap exhaust videos on YouTube. What I won't do: Rev a cold engine in the garage or driveway while I hold my cell phone in the other hand. Use my cell phone for the video What I am considering: I have two cameras I can use. A go pro for on-board video and a Sony A6000 for hand held and tripod video. I'm thinking of a launch clip A fly by on the gas and off Idle with a couple of blips and some low rpm steady throttle Then on-board with the go pro I'd mount the camera somewhere it will pick up the exhaust note. Might even get a mic with a wind sock to help on this one. Anyways, those are some quick thoughts. Any ideas? Examples of good or bad from YouTube could be helpful.
When you figure out how to do a good one, let us know....they all sound kinda funky and don't really do the sound justice. There is something about it where the real sound just doesn't seem to translate well to video.
Hmm, exhaust was delivered this evening. Now I just need to get the external mic, and start recording.
Even a well recorded video with good mic's will sound like crap on probably 90% of the devices people use. You have to move a lot of air to get a decent reproduction.
