On my last bike, a 2003 SV650S, it was content (and so was I) with running Rotella 15w40 since it's JAS-MA rated.
It also just so happens that my 88 BMW 3 series also liked it, so it was a win/win for me!
While perusing the internet, it seems that the VFR1200 DCT specs 10w30.
    Anything running anything else?

    For decades... Mobil 1, 4T, 10w-40....
Motorcycle oil in a motorcycle, how novel.

Tried many over the years. Mobil 1 4T in everything. The only bike that doesn't shift perfectly with it is my little KLX250.

Any proper oil changed at the suggested intervals will likely be fine. I notice the difference only in ease of shifting.

I send mine to Blackstone Labs every few changes to see how things look. They've found more than one problem for me.

But if it meets the same specs, (aside from price) what's the difference?
I ran it on my old SV650 with no issues. I don't see why the Honda is any different.
