    I'm contemplating selling my viffer.

What would be a fair asking price?

2003 with 2007 candy red paint.

    New Michelins
Fresh oil and filter change 1k miles ago
Coolant new as of last season
Sargent Seat (stock would be included)
    2 stage heated grips
    Givi rack and trunk
    Stain Tunes stainless exhaust
    K&N air filter
Plugs new as of last season (NGK iridiums)
    Brake fluid replaced last season
Fork oil and seals replaced last season
Stock fork springs are VERY mushy- rated for 110-145lb rider. .95 Race Tech springs put in.
    Peg lowering blocks
    Bar risers
12v accessory outlet under the seat
    New steering bearings (roller/All Balls)
Alloy brake and clutch levers with adjustable reach

The bike has a Power Commander
(O2 sensors removed and are included)

Bike is really well maintained and adult owned since day 1.
Cycle has 30,527 miles on it and climbing.

1 crack in nose fairing from tip over. Assorted minor chips and scuffs- but paint is shiny and overall the bike looks great.

I also have a box with an extra headlight, handlebar, and solo seat rack that someone from the forums produced a few years back I believe. (Got these on CL with some other goodies a year ago).

My guess $4500 is a fair price since you do have some of the goodies :thumb:

I worked in Manahttan for about 14 years, and accumulated quite the collection of watches. I'll trade you a Rolecks for your bike. :)

Sharp looking bike. What do you have in mind if you sell this?

I'd say here in Ohio, $4,000. There are so many bikes for sale right now with lower miles and newer for about the same or $4500-ish. No matter how awesome your farkles are, people will just use them to try and lower the price. (I don't want the extra seat, so take off $200...)

Sucks, but I just went through it.

For now I have a cruiser (shadow 1100). I've been so busy with work I don't have much time to ride and when I do it's with the cruiser guys for a trip. Letting one bike sit is a sin, 2 bikes is a real crime

I'm considering de-farkling for that reason. Which is a shame- the vfr is such an awesome bike and the add ons make it a real sweet riding creation.

One day I might have to buy me another!! (If I indeed sell. I'm not interested in taking a bath on the price and would rather keep her for some spirited blue moon rides:)

Ok total BS with the eBay attempt!! This jerk winwinsynergy or something like that bid on the bike with maybe 10 minutes or less left 3,450 trumping the previous bidder by 50 bucks. But then I get an email saying the 3400 won the bid. I check the bids and winwinsynergy asshat is nowhere to be found!!

I call eBay, sit on hold for 15 minutes and then they tell me oh he retracted the bid citing a data entry error with seconds left!!

I filed a complaint against him I don't even know how he did that. I never heard of retracting a bid!!

It's the principle of it. Not the $50 bucks obviously. Totally ridiculous.

That's crap about the retracted bid - On the UK site, that is only allowed if you genuinely miss-type the bid - so for instance enter a $100 bid when you meant $10. If they didn't bid something mad like $30,000 then I can't see how this retraction stacks up. Even so that's probably a lost cause.

    So moving on.

If you were selling on the UK market, the optimum game plan is fairly easy to see. The basic rule is if you still have the original bits to hand then you will be better off financially if you spend time to remove pretty much any non-standard fit and sell your bike as close to the OEM spec.

So remove things like the top box and rear carrier, bar risers, and the fancy exhaust (if the original is available and still OK), Possibly even pull the power commander and reverse O2 sensor mods - trade off is how much you need to spend on remapping the ECU to run with standard equipment. Remember the price you will be offered for the VFR - will largely be dictated by the market price of similar original spec bikes, with very little or any real extra paid for all those farkles.

OK if you go ahead and sell the bike with all those extras - its a bit easier as you don't have the hassle of dismantling stuff and arranging secondary sales. BUT just a few minutes checking on eBay will show that (especially during the summer riding season) there is fairly strong demand for many of those extras. Normally you will be far better off financially if you invest the time to return the bike to stock and sell off the extras separately.

Just my 2p - So what are your buying next?

    Case in point?? Lol
Let me guess it needed nothing and you don't believe in doing anything above and beyond what OEM saw fit to equip the bike with.

The more I hear and read aboot EBay, the less inclined I am to use it for anything.

Some of the car sites that are "Bluebook" sites have valuation schedules for motorcycles too. Like cars and trucks not every year and make on all sites will not be found. Some have three and sometimes four levels of condition and generally point out that farkles including spendy exhausts are worth aboot half of retail. Also found on some sites are the various trade in values even including what a dealer will offer and not even toss in a tube of KY jelly and ya have to bring your own sawhorse.

Some incentive IMO is to have a Carfax in the offer.

Your bike looks really nice, with some really nice upgrades.

Question: Why did you re-paint the entire bike? That's a nice paint job, curious what that cost, assuming you repainted everything (or did you just buy colored plastics?)

I would say $4500 is a good price, probably the highest you will see. It would be someone looking for a VFR. Best of luck with finding a buyer
