Should any shop be able to balance a rear wheel for us? Some shops are telling me they can't do it because it is a single side swingarm.

    Thanks,
    Tom

The VFR does require an adapter to balance the wheel but it should not be a foreign concept to any bike shop. No way they should tell you it "can't" be done.

I bought a balancer from Marc Parnes to do my own. If you go through a lot of tires, learn to change them yourself. It's really easy once you get the hang of it.

There are lots of negative reviews from people who have never used them. Every nay-sayer seems to be able to come up with some reason why they suck, but no evidence to back it up. On the other hand there are lots of people that do use them and have no complaints. I have them in my truck tires and two of my bikes. Two of my brothers run them in their trucks as well. They do work, and there are no negative effects like chipped paint or sticky tape residue from conventional weights.

    Eddie,

your reasons for not using them are?
If you have good reasons, I want to know.
I was thinking about using them. Why wouldn't you, seems like the perfect solution.

do you have a link to this thread?

I take mine to the local auto shop down the road. They say they can't do it, but I insist that they can and will. And they do. It mounts up just like a car wheel. They also insist that they can't change the tires, but they do. Its just not as easy as a car tire because the wider contact patch makes it difficult to get the tooth of the pnuematic machine in the right place. I always give them a hand to make sure everything goes right and they only charge $10 a wheel. If I wasn't so prone to scratching my wheels I would do them myself but I like to keep the VFR's scratch free. My other bikes I don't care so much, they're already scratched up a little anyway.

Howdy Guys, The thread that I referanced about the Dyna beads was titled "New tire
woes- help", from 3-9-09. More than anything it just created uncertainty about them, but please read the entire thread and make up your own mind. eddie
