Because it's packaged well to handle interesting backroads with comfort, good handling, good visability, good range and it's a Honda V4 and he likes Honda V4s ?

Let's put it this way... I love my V4 and I'd have a very hard time converting myself to ride anything else. Obviously, every bike and every engine has it's purpose and flaws, and each has it's own feel... but every rider has their preference, too...

Myself, I'd love to have one! Take best part of the VFR (obviously the engine) and slap it into an upgraded framework of the Transalp and you have one hell of a dual sport touring vehicle. With all the open dirt roads and twisty, winding roads here in Arizona the Crossrunner would be an awesome bike to experience in the desert sun.

I agree that the forum for this bike should follow as did those for the generations, and I believe that majority rules in welcoming the Crossrunner to the family.

And I just have to say that it's not gonna do you guys any good to hate on this bike, as Honda isn't going to pull it off the market just cause some of their fan base don't approve of it. Not everyone liked the PT Cruiser when it came out and thought it was the worst design that Chrysler ever attempted to distribute, but it quickly became one of the most sought after platforms and quickly went back order for a 6 month wait and with over 1.3 million sold in it's 10 yr production it was one of the most successful designs Chrysler ever developed. Still, I personally know quite a few people that hate... and I mean HATE the PT's with a passion. LOL

Well I took the plunge today and ordered my Crossrunner to be collected on Wed 15th June. I have specified a white one with top box panniers high screen wind deflectors & centre stand. This follows a 200+ mile road test yesterday on a mixture of town B roads A roads & motorway. I found the riding position very comfortable and had no knee pains at the end of the ride. as I said my knee was the main reason for parting with the DCT. Performance whilst obviously down on the DCT was to my mind perfectly adequate for my needs on todays roads in the UK. On the motorway cruising at 85 MPH (OOPS sorry about the typo officer I obviously meant 70) the wind protection could have been better but was perfectly acceptable. I'm sure that the high screen & wind deflectors will improve this. Handling was very good with the higher bars allowing the bike to be flicked through traffic with ease. i never thought about the gear change or mirrors so obviously thes must have been just fine. During this mixed riding I avaraged 48 MPG so not too bad. It will interesting to see what it returns in regular use. I did 155 miles before refueling with 3 bars still showing. The weight (or lack of) & high bars allowed me to move the bike around much easier than the DCT especially up the slope into our garage
I know that the Crossrunner will never be the bike that the DCT is but to me as it is more comfortable for my knee and lighter it means that I will be able to ride it more often and for longer thus making it a better for me.
If you haven't ridden one then give it a go and for those that really don't like it well all I can say is each to their own. After all the DNA is Honda V4.
As to those who asked why not a BMW or Ducati well the answer is simple in that the local Honda dealer is a good friend who really looks after us. This is the reason both my bikes & both sue's bikes are Hondas.
I will keep the forum updated once I actually become an owner

It better be. IMO, it looks better than a Multistrada or KTM990 of similar style. Who knows, someone 'round here just might turn it into the world's heaviest Stunt/Streetfighter bike.

I sold the 97 VFR I had and the two bikes in the garage are not V4's and nobody here has said anything.

And neither one is a Harley.

I have just discovered that the offical Honda designation for the Crossrunner is VFR 800 X so it is in fact a VFR. I collected mine today and I'm really looking forward to some great trips on it

I find it interesting coming from Dullville. I agree he's dead-on with the parts-bin and loosing touch with customers.
