This interesting article was written by Steve Enfield who has graciously allowed me to place it here. This article was originally posted on the VFR List and helped me I expect will help others.

Remove the Mid-Sections

Remove left and right mid section panels by releasing the quarter turn fasteners, 3 along the bottom, (which will stay in if you have the nylon retainers at the back of the panel, these only have to be undone not physically taken out), 2 on the front that go through from the front panel (these can be taken right out) and the allen bolt near where your knee is when on the bike.

Lift the panel from the bottom edge out away from the belly pan, which can be a bit sticky and swing it up slightly while applying some downward pressure. The panel will slide out of it's slots at the top. Repeat for other side.

Front Stone Guard and Oil Cooler Deflector

Remove the two plastic screw clips (philip's head) on each side by unscrewing a bit then getting finger nail under the "lip" and removing plug. If these have been replaced over your bike's life with the same sort of push clips as used on the oil cooler deflector then push in the centre pin, get nail under the outside edge and remove assembly.

Do the same for the two clips holding on the oil cooler deflector panel. Remove these panels.

Front Nose Cone

Undo allen keys on the flat section at the top panel closest to the tank and forks (one each side). Undo allen keys at the side above the vent (one each side). Remove phillip head screws from the plastic cover that runs down on the inside edge of the top of the fairing below the screen and remove the inserts (2 screws each side).

Lift rubber mirror boots off the base and undo the bolts. Remove the mirrors, plates and rubber seats. Reach inside the front of the fairing and disconnect the head light plugs off each headlight.

Disconnect the right and left indicator snap plugs. Make sure that the wires are free to come off with the fairing. On mine I had to open a wire retaining clip on the left inside of the fairing. Gently lift the left, then right top edge of the fairing off the steel "collars" that the mirrors located in and slide out the screen.

Standing at the front of the bike grasp the fairing, fingers hooked in near the instrument panel, and slowly work the fairing towards you while "spreading" it out a bit. You will need to make sure as you go that no wires catch up and you will need to move the fairing around a bit to clear the forks. You have to spread it a fair bit but it will allow you to do this within reason and just be gentle.

And thats it. I hope this helps.
