Radiator Protection on a '94 -'97 VFR750

Since Honda saw fit to place the radiator on the '94 - '97 right behind the front wheel for every rock and bug to hit, I decided to improve upon Honda's original design.

Seems that some Wingers discovered that Home Depot sells an aluminum screen that is a perfect replacement for their radiator screen protector. The Home Depot screen is used to keep leaves out of rain gutters and is nearly a perfect fit for the above radiators.

Of course, one has to remove the current plastic grill cover, insert the screen, and then replace the grill cover. This has not noticeably hurt cooling as measured by the temp gauge. Plus, this wide mesh screen has helped to keep some of the bugs out of the cooling fins. (Of course, it looks kind of trick.) Shortly after I made this change, I took a pretty good stone hit and the screen was dented, but not broken. That stone would have penetrated the cooling fins on the unprotected radiator. New radiators are about$400 (US).

I don't have a picture of my screen, but it looks something like the one on most newer Gold Wings.

And that's my screen story.
