While I was working on the bike last weekend, I also went to my local O'Reilly's and bought some of that door edging stuff. I don't remember which one of you mentioned it, but I thought it would be worth at try (this is after lifting off the tank and taking a few chips of paint off too!). I bought a package containing two (2) strips of door edging. I chose clear since I didn't want black around the bottom of the tank. The price was a whopping $2.99! I took it home, touched up the tank with some paint and worked on the bike for a while. Once I was sure that the paint on the tank had dried, I put the edging on. Perfect! The two strips were just PERFECT size to let me do all around the bottom of the tank! One piece on the right side, one on the left! Once I got it done, I was VERY impressed! Heck, now I could just set the tank on the ground if I wanted to, instead of a towel or a rug!

The tank went back on much easier once I realized I didn't have to worry about the tank bottom hitting the support braces, frame rails, etc. With the clear color I chose, you don't even notice the trimming on the tank, until you look close, and then it looks kinda' trick! Anyway, if you all are sick of flaking all the paint off the bottom of your tanks, I would DEFINITELY recommend forking out the $3 and trying some of this stuff. Just thought I would pass this along.
